Admittedly, we have let our website slide since the wedding. The task became rather daunting when I realized that we hadn’t finished the wedding pages or put up photos since the engagement! Today, I have updated all of the wedding pages, changing their order and content to allow room for our new life together. This evening I will learn how to upload zip files of photos and then I will be posting photos from the Wedding and Honeymoon. You can look forward to seeing how we are incorporating our desire to lighten our footprint on the earth in future updates. Thanks for tuning in!
Oh! A wee update on thank-you cards, we now have the cards sitting on our table, I have compiled the list and we are planning to have those out as soon as we make it through the giant pile! Phew. Know in advance that we are so gracious to all of our guests - friends and family who support us in our commitment together. Your gifts were overwhelming and have helped us tremendously through the first part of our journey together. Thank you all!

Our last couple of weekends have been action packed. We have been training for 600 kilometers of biking up the Sunshine Coast and Gulf Island hopping. We made a successful 80 km round trip to Delta to visit Lisa’s mom followed by a 160 km round trip to Mission for Lisa’s sister’s wedding. Both trips had their share of challenges.
Delta was navigationally challenging as the bike paths were convoluted and impossible to manage without help in areas. I was wiped by the end as we chose to take a “short cut” which added about 10 km of gravelly riding alongside Delta’s scenic Burn’s Bog.
Mission was a much more substantial test of our physical and mental stamina as the distance was a little beyond our comfort zone. The way home was a balmy 7 degrees celcius with a steady cold rain that permeated almost every nook.

We spent last weekend planning our human powered honeymoon. The fourteen day, 700 km bike and kayak tour will take us up the Sunshine Coast, over to Vancouver Island, North to Cortez Island, South to Denman Island and finally to Salt Spring Island. From Salt Spring we begin a four day guided ocean kayak tour with Sea Otter Kayaking before making our way back to Vancouver via Tsawwassan on Sunday June 30th.

How many times did I say that there is no way that I would wait to go on my honeymoon? Well, we are waiting to go on our honeymoon! I am taking a lit course this summer, with an amazing prof, that will help me graduate before I acheive “mature student” status, and exams fall after the wedding.
So we are going to be around the week after the wedding, which is a blessing, because it gives us more time to spend with out of town family (not to mention our married selves) before we head off toooo…. Our sustainable honeymoon! We will be biking somewhere in BC for two weeks. Our idea right now is to do the islands of BC heading north from here and then depending on our energy, come home. We think we are looking at about 400km at least. Any commentary?! Here is a pic of us on our bikes.
