Today, Friday April 20th, 2007 is Justin’s first friday at home since he decided to “work less” and drop his hours at work down to four days per week. He got the idea from a book written by the leader of the work-less party; by working less, one has the time to spend with their family and community creating a better lifestyle all while consuming less. I feel so blessed that our circumstances have allowed for this opportunity. It’s wonderful to have him here for this extra day because it makes it easy for us to stay connected. We have found it very easy to lose touch during the work week, with school, meetings, co-op responisiblities in addition to trying to hold up somewhat of a spiritual practice (I can’t even imagine how people add kids into the mix!) I feel that our life is becoming simpler, we have more time to live life a little bit slower and with that comes less of a desire to consume unnecessarily. I feel like we are much closer to the natural rhythm of our bodies doing more of what we really enjoy, being together and being with our communities.

How Unconventional!

Oooooh... look at that! How many times did I say that there is no way that I would wait to go on my honeymoon? Well, we are waiting to go on our honeymoon! I am taking a lit course this summer, with an amazing prof, that will help me graduate before I acheive “mature student” status, and exams fall after the wedding.
So we are going to be around the week after the wedding, which is a blessing, because it gives us more time to spend with out of town family (not to mention our married selves) before we head off toooo…. Our sustainable honeymoon! We will be biking somewhere in BC for two weeks. Our idea right now is to do the islands of BC heading north from here and then depending on our energy, come home. We think we are looking at about 400km at least. Any commentary?! Here is a pic of us on our bikes.
